What is Google Consent Mode v2?
Google Consent Mode v2 has been mandatory since March 2024 for all stores targeting the EU that use Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Floodlight. It lets Google measure even without storing personal data when the user declines cookies. Without it, Google Ads in the EU may stop measuring correctly and you'll lose conversion attribution.
Can I run tracking scripts without consent?
No. Under GDPR and the ePrivacy directive you must obtain explicit consent BEFORE tracking scripts (Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, Hotjar, TikTok, etc.) are loaded. Without consent, only strictly necessary cookies (login session, cart) may run. Our audit detects scripts that fire before consent is granted.
Does it work with PrestaShop and WooCommerce?
